Flower Festival
August 9, 2024Bank Holiday blooms
The Friends of St Nicholas Church in Dereham are holding a fabulous Flower Festival in the Church over the August Bank Holiday weekend, 24th-26th August 2024
Covering a theme of ‘Memorable Journeys’, there will be 28 floral exhibits by flower arrangers from the Church, members of Dereham & District Flower Club and three local Florists. The theme will be represented by floral displays on the walk of life, weddings, once-in-a-lifetime holidays, unforgettable trips, the very hungry caterpillar, and much more.
Visitors are welcome from 9.30-5.00 Saturday and Monday and 12.00-5.00 on Sunday. Entry is free; donations to the Church are very welcome. Programmes are available for £3 and give an insight into the inspiration behind each of the creative exhibits. Refreshments will be available throughout the weekend.
The funds raised from the flower festival will go to the St Nicholas’ Building Project. This project will see the addition of toilets, a kitchenette and the creation of a meeting room within the north aisle of the church. This will provide a pastoral space for meetings as well as a room for community use. The floor will be levelled and independent heating introduced. The historic Tudor ceiling will also be conserved. Details of the project can be found on the display boards in the Chancel area within the Church.
