Christmas Comes to the Ellenor Fenn Garden

Thank you so much to the Mid-Norfolk Singers, Dereham Baptist Church, Dereham Round Table and Helen Evans of aboutDereham for organising a very beautiful event in the Ellenor Fenn Garden this morning, Saturday 18 December.

In spite of very grey skies, the little bit of drizzle cleared up and there was a really nice atmosphere as people gathered to listen to the Christmas carols.

While waiting for the carols, visitors were able to take advantage of warm drinks and cookies served by Dereham Baptist Church and to visit inside the church itself to see the Christmas decorations and display of festive wreaths created by local schools and charities.

An activity table kept some of the children busy making their own miniature Christmas wreaths, thanks once again to members of the Baptist Church.

As 11.30 approached, there was a certain sense of anticipation as the assembled crowd waited for Santa to arrive. Santa and Morrisons’ community champion Leanne Jarman – Santa’s helper elf – gave out 200 presents to the assembled children. A big thank you to Morrisons for their kind donation and to Leanne for her help.

Thanks also go to the staff at Dencora who had organised market stalls in the M&Co shop – there was a great range and variety of stalls – some real local treasures, with crafts and gifts on sale.
