Dereham Does Pride – event to celebrate diversity and acceptance

Pride event organiser

Dereham Does Pride was a wonderful event held At the King’s Head hotel in Dereham on 1st July. The event aimed to celebrate diversity, inclusivity and understanding. The idea started from a simple Facebook post from one of the founders, Abbi King, and the whole idea snowballed from there. There was a lot of support for the idea and a small organising committee was formed.

One year later Dereham saw a fantastic event with loads of stalls and activities almost filling the large gardens of the King’s Head pub. The celebration included performances from local groups, a dog show, story-time, singing and local drag queens. The turnout was amazing and organisers say they are grateful to everyone who came along to support Dereham Does Pride Day.

Organisers say, “there have been similar events in Norwich, King’s Lynn and Attleborough, which have had a lot of success. They have generated a lot of interest and helped businesses around the towns. We thought it was time Dereham had its own celebration.”
