Beacon lighting ceremony

May 29, 2022

Join us on 2nd June from 7.30pm in Fleece Meadow

Bring a folding chair and relax with us as we await the magic hour of 9.45pm when the Dereham town beacon will be lit in honour of her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Royalist or not, this is a special occasion to mark 70 years of loyal service to the nation.

There will be hot dogs, burgers, ice creams and soft drinks on sale.

For families, we have the wonderful magician, Mr Sam, the Magic Man conjuring all sorts of magic out of thin air. Mr Sam will finish with bending balloon shapes for the children to take home. See his website:

Best self made crown competition!

The Dereham Mayor, Councillor Hugh King will join Mr Sam to judge the best home-made crown competition. So if you have made a crown – don’t forget to bring it along!

Also keeping us company and entertaining us with a mix of upbeat popular songs and favourites – the talented Libery Shepherd to delight and entertain us! See Liberty’s work here:
