aboutDereham’s 6th anniversary

It is about 6 years since the aboutDereham constitution was adopted in 2018. For all of those six years, Mike Webb has acted as Chairman of the Partnership and provided a strong, clear and consistent leadership.

At the 2024 Annual General Meeting, we heard from Mike some of the Partnership’s achievements over the last 12 months, as part of his regular Annual report.

Our meeting was, as ever, well attended, friendly and positive – and everyone warmed especially to the lovely Rose Barnes, one of Norfolk’s Deputy Lieutenants. Rose told us about the Norfolk Lieutenancy which, under Lady Dannat’s leadership as the first woman Lord Lieutenant for Norfolk, has become more modern, more diverse and more inclusive.

Rose explained that the mission of the Lieutenancy is to help and support communities in whatever way they can, as well as to represent the monarch at Norfolk events.

Rose undertook part of her training in Dereham and then practised as a GP in South Norfolk. She is keen to be more involved in Dereham life and, if she can, to help our voluntary organisations in their work in the community.

During the meeting, Mike officially stood down from the Chairman role and handed over to Glynn. We think he was surprised to receive a letter of commendation from Lady Dannat, a large bouquet of flowers, a history of the partnership and some CDs.

Mike said that leading the partnership was one of the best things he has ever done and that the aboutDereham legacy will be long lasting and profound.
