The museum is home to a wide range of exhibits of local interest. New for 2024, ‘Life in Victorian Dereham’ provides a brief overview of daily life in the town in the mid to late Victorian period.

Where would you buy your hats? How would you advertise for a domestic servant? Where would you send your children to school? How would you find a cure for your ailments?’

Learn more about local Dereham characters, their businesses and trades, as well as the changes that have taken place in society and the town.

Also new for this year is our community art exhibition. Organised by Dereham Heritage Trust, ‘John Craske: Picturing Peace’, is a community art and wellbeing project inspired by the story of Dereham’s most famous artist. With more than 90 entries, the ‘Picturing Peace’ exhibition celebrates the therapeutic value of art as championed by John Craske and features three reproductions of Craske’s work, the first time these have been exhibited in Dereham in over 30 years. The display is an inspiration in itself.
